The charming yet simple one star Barcelona City Urquinaona Hostal is located in the beautiful centre near the Plazas Catalunya and Urquinaona in Barcelona Spain. From this quiet area you can easily explore the historical Old Town and the chic Eixample neighbourhoods, all while being a short distance from the bars and nightlife. This is a fabulous jumping off point to see the major sites of the city. Wander down the shopping street Porta del Angel to the Cathedral plaza with this spectacular gothic structure dominating the area. Les Quartre Gats restaurant is just around the corner and was one frequented by famous painter and former Barcelona resident Picasso. It serves high end versions of typical Catalan fare in a charming setting with warm colours and pointed arches. Cross the Via Laietana and visit the Palau de la Música. This whimsical concert hall is an eyeful of colour and shapes in ceramic. Down from here is the semi hidden little bar, the Antic Teatre, which is full of the young and hip in the outdoor patio. The nearby Raval and the Born areas are great for going out for cocktails late at night. Princesa 23 is on the street by the same name and has a happy hour and cocktail of the evening special- and sometimes a free cava (Catalan sparkling wine) if you get a flyer from a street promoter. In Raval, Dos Trece bar and restaurant has great mixed drinks and on Sundays they have a great brunch until 4. This charming little hostel has single rooms, double rooms, with either double bed or two single beds and triples with 3 single beds. All have a wash basin inside the room, and bathrooms are shared. The hostel has a little terrace where you can enjoy the quiet as you have your morning coffee. A clean and simple hostel for a relaxing stay in the city centre.
