Inside the amazing Pavilion of Mies van der Rohe in Barcelona you will find a charming pond beautifully decorated by a bronze reproduction of the sculpture entitled ‘Dawn’ (‘Alba’) by Georg Kolbe, a contemporary of van der Rohe.
After the closure of the International Exhibition celebrated in Barcelona in 1929 the Pavilion was demolished. In 1980, due to the importance and reputation of the building, the Head of the Urban Planning Department at the Barcelona City Council - Oriol Bohigas - designated the architects Ignasi de Sola Morales, Cristian Cirici and Fernando Ramos to design and supervise the reconstruction of the Pavilion. The new building was opened on its original site in 1986.
