Casa Batllo is also known as The House of Bones (Casa de los Huesos – Casa dels Ossos in Catalán) as it is an extremely beautiful and colourful building that also has a shadow of mystery. The balconies look like the eyes and nose of skulls and the columns in the first floor are of a similar shape to human bones.

Once again Antoni Gaudí strayed from any traditional path and built a spectacular façade that  fascinates with its precious details, its undulating and unusual shapes and the artistic work in  ceramic, stone and iron - all typical modernist elements. As with other original constructions of the architect, Casa Batllo faced some problems with Barcelona ’s local authorities, since some of its dimensions were larger than the authorized limits.

Casa Batllo’s roof is one of the most striking parts of the construction. It’s curved like the back of a great dragon and it’s covered in ceramic tiles that resemble the scales. Also on the roof you can see the tower with the four way cross, very typical of Gaudí’s style.

The interior of the building is imaginative and astonishing aswell. It has many rich details and fantastic designs, the ceilings, the walls, the doors and the light fittings. The interior together with the façade make Casa Batlló a beautiful tourist attraction in Barcelona , admired by visitors from all around the world.
