·       The land where the Sagrada Familia Cathedral is still being built cost 1034€ in the year 1881.

·       Initially Gaudí was not the architect chosen for the construction of the cathedral. The first architect, named Villar, was dismissed after some problems and replaced by a young Gaudi of only 31 years old.

·       Gaudi never worked with completed plans. He would build the temple in fragments using only some essentials figures and numbers.

·       Besides his sometimes delicate health, Antoni Gaudí had to face another powerful enemy: the lack of funds that was threatening the continuity of the construction. Passionate and determined, Gaudi always refused to suspend the works and continued fighting and looking for support in anybody that would visit it. He would even personally go out into the street to raise funds among the passers-by.

·       Antoni Gaudí died 10th July 1926, having been run over by a tram on the streets of Barcelona 3 days before. He was buried in the Sagrada Familia crypt.   

·       During the Spanish civil war (1936-1939) the crypt and the workshop were destroyed, losing Gaudi's original drawings for ever…

·       In spite of this ‘El Templo de la Sagrada Familia’ in Barcelona continued being built and continues to this day, so that some day people can enjoy the full greatness of a dream to which Antoni Gaudi dedicated his life.  

·       Recently Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona overtook La Alhambra in Granada as Spain’s most visited tourist attraction.
