Typical Barcelona Breakfast

Pa amb tomaquet means bread with tomato in Catalan and is exactly that. This simple dish is served as an accompaniment to any meal in all Catalan restaurants and forms part of the local staple diet. A typical Catalan breakfast consists of this tomato bread, served with any variety of delicious Spanish ham. There are many sweet alternatives available in most bakeries if you are not ready for salty ham first thing in the morning and the pastries are fairly similar to the usual French patisseries. Most people drink coffee or fresh orange juice with their breakfast.
